Growing up in the Raleigh area I have been a Wolfpacker all my life. All of my three brothers went to NC State so it was predetermined that I would as well, the only question was what major. loving math and science, engineering was the obvious choice, but I also enjoyed chemistry in high school and after finding that Chemical Engineers made the most of any other BS major my mind was made. During school I also picked up additional degree in Materials Science and Engineering and a few years after graduation I obtained my Professional Engineers license. Throughout school I had internships at the Electric Power Research Center (HQ at NCSU), Phillip Morris (now Altria), and Milliken. After graduation I went to work for Albemarle Corporation (specialty chemicals) in varying roles from process design, product/process improvement, and R&D. I later transitioned to Talecris (now Grifols) Biotherapeutics in a Plant Reliability Engineering role, after which I transitioned to the role as the Radwaste Supervisor at Duke Energy Progress' Shearon Harris Nuclear Power plant. Currently I am the Senior Facilities Engineer with Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies in RTP.

As someone who bleeds Wolfpack red and white, I always knew I'd go to NC State and my dream was to return and work here.  And here I am!  I earned my BS in Chemical Engineering at NC State and my PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware.  As an undergrad, I worked in the Spontak, Overcash and Roberts (the original!, one of the BEST AIChE advisors ever, and author of your reactors book) labs.  I had Felder for CHE 205 (and his college roommate and thermo expert, Sandler for grad school thermo).  I studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, since I also earned a BA in Spanish from NC State as a Ben Franklin Scholar.  I interned at Miliken Chemical, too!  After graduate school, I accepted a job in the College of Engineering's Deans Office for Academic Affairs.  I oversee all transfer admissions and interact with all first year engineering students.  I also take the opportunity to guest lecture for CHE 395, which is great fun!  I volunteered to be the faculty advisor for AIChE because my experience in the chapter was so impactful during my time at NC State!  I benefited greatly from interacting with professionals regularly and I truly enjoyed the camaraderie of the students in the chapter.  Of course, the conferences are amazing, too!  I want to help you make your NC State CHE experience just as fantastic as mine was!  Your first step is joining the chapter!
